Sewing projects…

Here are just a few of my recent sewing projects.  🙂  The girls love it and I have fun making them pretty things to wear.

All of the following dresses or tops are from Create Kids Couture patterns.   If you sew and have a little girl go check them out!  New patterns out all the time and each and every one is beautiful!

Felicity’s Simple Peasant Top

Cora’s Tiered Top (Sundress and Maxi Dress options too)

Ivy’s Criss Cross Ruffle Dress (Or top or maxi dress!)

Fairy’s Double Layer Princess Dress

Mia’s Reverse Knot Twirly Dress

Lacey’s Apron Top with reversible option

Joy’s Lace Twirly Dress

Harmony’s Twirly Lace Skirt

Violette’s Swirly Peasant Dress

Kylie showing off her dance moves!  LOL

So as you can see I have been doing a lot of sewing.  I truly enjoy it and it really  makes me feel good to make these beautiful outfits.  The girls aren’t always thrilled to go outside to take pictures after I am done but then they usually don’t want to take them off after we are done.  🙂  It truly warms my heart.  I am hoping to start selling made to order dresses sometime soon and many will be made with Create Kids Couture patterns.  The owners, Tiffany and Shannon are every day women like you and me and they just saw a need and taught themselves to do it.  I am so thrilled to get the opportunity to make items from their collection.

Happy 4th of July 2011!!!!

Today we celebrated like we always do with a parade and a fun family and friend picnic!!  Lots of fun and the girls had a blast all day!  Melody kept saying, “This is the BEST DAY EVER!!”  It was pretty funny to hear all day long!  She loved Gram Gram’s options of ice cream for dessert this afternoon as we had about 10 – 15 options!  I don’t think Melody has seen that much ice cream in one place in a home ..ever!  We also let our Painted Lady Butterflies free today at the beginning of the picnic so that they can live out the rest of their adult life, which consists of a whole TWO weeks!  I did notice some butterflies mating yesterday and the day before so hopefully they will go lay their eggs and more Painted Lady Butterflies will be born in a few weeks!!

When we came home we started watching all of the 4th of July programs on tv and the girls enjoyed the music and the fireworks!  I took the girls outside after it got dark outside to light some sparklers too.  (I bought them last year and forgot about them so I saved them for today!)

I also had Peter help me wash three loads of laundry and put away all of our stuff when we got home today so it was a full and joyful day all around.  Peter just went up to bed because he needs to get up in about 8 1/2 hours to mow some lawns and I will be getting up to take the kids to the beach on the Farmington River for the afternoon.  Because of all of our time at the beach so far this summer I have built up a pretty nice tan so far too!  🙂  I usually just burn and that is it for me all year so I am grateful for a slow building tan this time around.

My latest sewing projects…

I haven’t been sewing much this past month while recovering from surgery as sitting in my sewing chair was painful but now that I am starting to feel much more normal I have started on a few new projects!  🙂  This skirt I made using some fabrics from Above All Fabrics during her remnant sale.

I love how it came out and Kylie is super excited to wear it too!

I made these tissue pouches using a tutorial posted here on A Lemon Squeezy Home.

I plan on having the girls give them to their teachers tonight at their MPact Graduation.

This skirt is for Melody’s girlfriend Paige for her birthday.  We couldn’t make it to her birthday party because I wasn’t feeling well so I told her mother that we would still bring her gift to the girls groups.  The next week it was horrible storms so we stayed home and then last week there wasn’t any group.  So tonight it is.  She gets to show off what she earned this year in Prims and she also gets a fun little skirt as a belated birthday gift.

June 12th – 14th, 2011

We have been taking it easy the past few days as my belly was starting to hurt again.  I did get outside to take some new pictures of the lilies that were in bloom and the roses flourishing in my garden.  Today in the mail we received our order of live caterpillars!  They are painted lady caterpillars and I will be taking pictures of them DAILY for the next three weeks or so until we release them.  The girls are SUPER excited and didn’t want to leave the table because they thought they would miss something!

Showing the pictures with a slideshow which is a new thing that wordpress is doing with the pictures if you choose.  I hope it works!  🙂  Enjoy!

June 1st – 9th, 2011

June 1st through June 9th was a bit crazy with insane weather and fun times outside in the heat..it was about 98* outside!  My flowers started growing like crazy and then the storms would roll in at night and blow us away!  The girls had a blast outside in the pool on the hot days ..even though they are small kiddie pools it was fun for them to float and splash one another in the heat.

May 29 – 31st, 2011

May 29th we went to my nieces son’s birthday party and my brother was there.  Kylie decided she wanted ONLY to hang out with Uncle Matt!  While the boys were opening their gifts the girls both sat down with Uncle Matt and cuddled up with him.  I think they all enjoyed the time together!

May 30th was Memorial Day and we went downtown to the parade.  I had the girls wear their 4th of July dresses from last year and we got so many comments on them!  Kylie even made a new friend!  She decided to go hang out with this little girl and her mother and spent the whole parade sitting with them! 🙂  The mother at the end told Kylie to never change!  (She never stopped talking!)

After the parade we went across the street to Dairy Queen and waited only a few minutes and after our order was placed and we started to get our items handed back out to us Zachary got this weird look on his face and suddenly passed out..only for a second but boy was that scary!  He had spent the whole parade in MY chair in the shade!  It didn’t make any sense!  So I had the paramedics take him to the hospital so they could hopefully figure out what happened.  In the over and hour that we spent there they really didn’t do much for tests and just sent him on his way.  I made an appt. for him to be seen the next day at his regular Dr. and he did some blood work which came back a few days later as perfect.  So we still have no idea what happened.  I guess I need to contact the Dr. again to find out if there is more we should be doing to make sure it doesn’t happen again!

On May 31st the girls had some fun in a large box that I turned into a little house for them.  They were both reading and making funny faces and it was just making me smile seeing them enjoying books the way I always have in life.

May 13 – May 27, 2011

I got around to planting my veggies early this year (May 13, 2011) to give them a head start.  I planted four tomato plants and two red bell pepper plants.  A few herbs as well.  So far everything is growing like crazy!

May 17th – (This may be TMI for some)

I left the house at 6am to head to the hospital to get ready for surgery.  This was scheduled surgery to help fix a few problems I have had every since Kylie was born almost five years ago.  I had a hysterectomy and they removed my uterus and cervix.  I kept my ovaries so I don’t have to go through menopause early!  I was in severe pain for a few days but I was home by May 19th.  I rested a lot the first few days and then have felt better and better each and every day.

May 21st we had some severe rain and it always floods in our back “yard” area.  Always such craziness around here and I hate it when it rains!  (It usually means our basement floods too!)

On May 24th we had a visitor that has been around for the past few years.  This year momma bear brought along two new cubs!  They were about the size of my cat!  So cute!  I know it is the same momma bear because of the ear tags she is wearing.  She likes to come and dig in the dumpster for food.  This time around in opening the sliding door she just pulled it completely off!

I also took a picture of the sun shining through the front window this afternoon..I love the look of it!

May 25 – 26th I had just planted some purple iris’ and they were in bloom!  I love them!  Melody lost yet another tooth!  Her bottom left lateral incisor!  So now she has three teeth missing and it is so cute to see her smile!  🙂  We had some visitors to the bird feeders this time actual birds!  It was a very cloudy day and it is rather dark in the back when it is like that outside so the pictures are a bit dark but you I love how they came out.

May 27th I packed up all kinds of paint products and brought the girls outside in the shade and let them paint rocks, paper and we even did some spin art!  🙂  They had a blast, made a mess on their clothing even with the aprons and we now have a ton of art creations to look at from all of that fun!

April 22, 2011 – Beardsley Zoo for the day!

Today we went to the zoo to meet up with my girlfriend Alexis and her daughter.  It was a nice day but the breeze made it rather chilly for the end of April!  The kids had a blast!  Kylie didn’t want to listen, as usual, so Peter spent much of the day chasing after her and holding her.  I took over 600 pictures!  The following 127 pictures were my favorites!  LOL  You will see LOTS of peacocks as they wander the grounds freely and get pretty close to you!

4/5/11

I have been MIA lately and I am sorry for anyone who may have been looking forward to my daily photos.  I apparently just can’t keep up with that anymore so I will post as often as I can from now on.  I am going to include a bunch of photos in this post to kind of make up for any that were passed over during my time missing in action.  When I was going through my pictures I apparently picked out a ton of them so it may take some time to open up all of the following photos.  To see them bigger just click on them!  🙂
