Women of Faith

This weekend I am heading to Women of Faith in downtown Hartford and I am just so excited.  I have been to one of their events years ago and it truly refreshed my soul.  It was a year after my father died and it meant so much to me to be there spending that time with other women who understood my pain and also were there to support me through it.  This time it is many years later and I am going with a new friend and I just can’t wait!  It is going to be so much fun to be there with so many women who want to learn more about themselves and about God.

Women of Faith

I can’t wait to see all of the special guests that they have this weekend as well.  Natalie Grant, Sheila Walsh, Luci Swindoll, Lisa Harper, Nicole Johnson, Angie Smith, Ken Davis and Mary Mary!!  Music, stories, faith, love and joy all rolled into one!  I can’t wait to be “refreshed, encouraged and inspired”!!

I need this!  I need this time to do something for ME!  I am the type of person who does everything for everyone else so I am taking two day of my life and spending time on ME!  Again, I just can’t wait!  Two more days and I am off to a weekend of happiness!

I will be taking my camera and taking pictures of the weekend and sharing my experiences when I can so stay tuned!

Thank you, Ryan Detzel!

I follow Ryan Detzel’s blog here at http://www.thisisreverb.com and I love his perspective on life, religion, kids and just fun in general.  He has the occasional giveaway and his last one was super fun.  He wanted to know what you used to hate but now love..as in foods.  I told him the story of how my mother in-law would often serve broccoli at dinners when we went there to visit.  I never wanted to try the little green trees again and kept saying, “No thank you” when I was offered some at each meal.  I finally, one day, decided to give it a try.   Come to find out I LOVED it!!  Who knew?  I didn’t grow up eating lots of veggies as a kid because I don’t think my father liked the much either.  But now I have branched out and serve broccoli often to my own family!  Kylie and Zachary both LOVE IT too!!  🙂

Today I was notified that I won this fun little giveaway and boy did I win some fun prizes!  Go here to check them out!

Thank you for visiting if you are here from This Is Reverb.  Maybe stay awhile and check out some of my fun pictures of the family and the world around us.

May 13 – May 27, 2011

I got around to planting my veggies early this year (May 13, 2011) to give them a head start.  I planted four tomato plants and two red bell pepper plants.  A few herbs as well.  So far everything is growing like crazy!

May 17th – (This may be TMI for some)

I left the house at 6am to head to the hospital to get ready for surgery.  This was scheduled surgery to help fix a few problems I have had every since Kylie was born almost five years ago.  I had a hysterectomy and they removed my uterus and cervix.  I kept my ovaries so I don’t have to go through menopause early!  I was in severe pain for a few days but I was home by May 19th.  I rested a lot the first few days and then have felt better and better each and every day.

May 21st we had some severe rain and it always floods in our back “yard” area.  Always such craziness around here and I hate it when it rains!  (It usually means our basement floods too!)

On May 24th we had a visitor that has been around for the past few years.  This year momma bear brought along two new cubs!  They were about the size of my cat!  So cute!  I know it is the same momma bear because of the ear tags she is wearing.  She likes to come and dig in the dumpster for food.  This time around in opening the sliding door she just pulled it completely off!

I also took a picture of the sun shining through the front window this afternoon..I love the look of it!

May 25 – 26th I had just planted some purple iris’ and they were in bloom!  I love them!  Melody lost yet another tooth!  Her bottom left lateral incisor!  So now she has three teeth missing and it is so cute to see her smile!  🙂  We had some visitors to the bird feeders this time actual birds!  It was a very cloudy day and it is rather dark in the back when it is like that outside so the pictures are a bit dark but you I love how they came out.

May 27th I packed up all kinds of paint products and brought the girls outside in the shade and let them paint rocks, paper and we even did some spin art!  🙂  They had a blast, made a mess on their clothing even with the aprons and we now have a ton of art creations to look at from all of that fun!

April 22, 2011 – Beardsley Zoo for the day!

Today we went to the zoo to meet up with my girlfriend Alexis and her daughter.  It was a nice day but the breeze made it rather chilly for the end of April!  The kids had a blast!  Kylie didn’t want to listen, as usual, so Peter spent much of the day chasing after her and holding her.  I took over 600 pictures!  The following 127 pictures were my favorites!  LOL  You will see LOTS of peacocks as they wander the grounds freely and get pretty close to you!

Today I went to my nieces home and she cut my hair so I can donate 10 1/2 inches to Locks of Love.  As you can see it was long and just not pretty and shaped properly anymore.  (I hardly ever get my hair cut..it has been a year!)  So it was just time.  It was getting to the point of me wanting to just hack it off myself and that would have just been a mess.  My niece learned how to cut hair in high school..the local Tech school where Zachary goes now!  I think she did a fabulous job and I love my new hair!  I decided to grow out my bangs too so I have been bobby pinning them back or wearing lots of headbands to keep it out of my face until it is long enough to tuck behind my ear.  This will likely take a year or so..lets hope I can wait that long!  So far everyone who has seen it cut loves it and so do I!  🙂
